Created after my Father’s sudden death, I was confronted with the abuse he endured as a child and his lack of resolution. He was abused as a child and his death at such a young age after several years of battling PTSD and depression, It became important for me to undertstand it. youth I barely understood what it was that he endured, but I tried to put myself into his shoes and subsequently any child’s shoes who might be in an awful situation and want to escape.
I decided after a few weeks of sketches and notes to create the piece in the form of an artist’s book. Each plan, schematic of escape included a facing page with the definition of the title of the sketch. These definitions were used to weave the story of a boy and his escape from abuse.
